Avitable – When I planned this shot I thought I might be able to capture some vibration of the head as well, but no. Of course, that wouldn’t work with the way I ended up taking this shot — which was with a multi-fired flash — but I first tried a long exposure, which didn’t work either. Plus, with the long exposure the sticks were just a blur or hardly visible at all. I think I did get a few long exposure shots that were okay, but I much prefer the multi-flash version.
Finn – I didn’t, but if you click through to the larger image, and (if necessary) zoom it in your browser, the shot of the sticks is pretty close and has a good amount of detail.

Did you get a closer shot of just the sticks moving? That would be an awesome shot.

Lisa – Thanks! I’m glad I remembered the multi-flash, as the non-flash long exposure just wasn’t quite getting the result I wanted.

Not really feeling “Loud” on Finn’s image, but Ren, you got it for sure. The motion in the drumstick is cool.

Clint – From a comment on her post, It turns out that the wooden soles on those shoes make quite the racket. 🙂
