Outlaw Trail 100

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Travis and I did the 100K bike loop of the Outlaw Trail. It was a good ride with nice weather and “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!” afterward. The night before, my parents and my family went to the pre-ride pasta dinner. Little did we know that we would be the opening scene of the promo video. I also found an image of Travis and me at the starting line:

Next week, the Wurst Ride followed by Wurst Fest. Yum! They have a pretty cool interactive ride map, and they even let people embed it thusly:

Hubs does these rides as well. He belongs to at least 3 local riding groups and last year took a nasty fall (which he claims he was due since he’s been riding nearly 30 years and it was his first) and broke his collarbone. I volunteer to do SAG’s for them alot, mostly ’cause I feel like I need to be nearby in the event there’s another disaster.

Sigh. You guys worry the dickens outta me!!

I’ve had some minor falls but nothing significant. Avoiding evening riding helps safety by a large margin, I feel, though I did finally get some lights for my bike in case I leave work too late on a day that I bike to work. It’s been way too long since I did that, though. Maybe next week….

That’s awesome. I miss biking. Reading blogs like Delmer’s makes me want to get back into it. Although, winter is coming here soon… i would have to wait until sprint to start biking again.

We can technically ride year round here in Austin, though morning rides get pretty chilly in the winter and it is better to move to afternoon rides. And, of course, cold rain is more likely and not at all fun to ride in.
